Distractions

Distractions are everywhere, news, sports, and even the internet itself. How much time have you wasted catching up with your favorite sport's teams? How much time have you wasted watching the news? How much time have you wasted binge watching videos on YouTube? I know I wasted many hours doing all these and started to realize that it has done nothing but waste my time and energy. Time and energy are valuable resources and should only be devoted to the things that MATTER.

The only people who should be focused on those mentioned above are the people who make a living off them. Are you making money by betting on teams? Fine! Are you a program manager at NBC and are forced to watch the news to see if it's good? Great! Are you making money by watching random YouTube videos? Fantastic! If you don't do any of those and are poor, then it's a waste of time. These are only a few of the many distractions that are out there. Anything that doesn't help you achieve your goals is a DISTRACTION.

How many hours are wasted  reading these answers?

We have been seduced folks.

The problem has grown bigger than I have ever imagined. Marketers have figured us out and are stealing our time and energy. It's evil in plain sight and we have welcomed it into our lives. We have grown so used to it that we even enjoy it. It's time to recognize and reject these evils.

It's time to focus.

I am Dead

It's almost the end of December and I haven't written a single word. No "Merry Christmas," no "Happy New Year," nothing. It's because I stayed busy, or I ran out of things to say. Either way I'm beginning to become an actions speaks louder than words kind of guy. I've stayed silent with my activities because anything I say doesn't mean shit until I succeed. I feel disgusted even bringing it up because I haven't accomplished a god damn thing.

I recently came across someone I knew and he said jokingly "I thought you were dead." Not a very nice thing to say, but I don't blame him because he later added "everyone thinks you're dead." It's what I expected for being a recluse for the past three years. I took a risk to walk the path least taken and now the risks have become ever so apparent. In one year, most of my class will have secured their bachelors degree. In one year, some of my class will have secured $100k/year jobs. In one year, my classmates and my parents will start to question my sanity and I will still have nothing to show.

My life is beginning to look more and more depressing, but I have no regrets. It's the risk I've taken to win and there's no looking back. I can only move forward and if I die, I die. But at least I'd die a fool than a sheep.

Brush It Off

Everyday is a struggle and I've been fucking up. I'm a loser and very undisciplined. I tell myself to do something and when shit hits the fan I just revert to my old ways.  I am lying to myself.

What the fuck am I really doing?
Do I really want to fuck up on the only thing that I might be descent at?
Am I fucking around too much?
Should I go back to school and try being like everyone else?
Am I really improving?

Asking these questions really hurts because I truly want to make it. However, I'm holding myself back from achieving what I want to achieve. I need to ask myself if I am serious because it doesn't feel like it at this point. I find myself joking around and having a grand old time and I am sick of it. WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING?

Just thinking about it has brought a wave of negativity around me. I get fucking voices in my head screaming at me.

"You can't do it"
"Fuck you"
"You are dead"

I just gotta brush it off. To get what I want, I have to stop thinking about all the bullshit and focus. I must stay calm. I must figure out what I am doing wrong and fix it. I need to stop fucking around and actually get with the program. All this negative thinking is what is causing the problem. It is a distraction from what is important. I need to know about the problem, fix the problem, and move on as fast as possible.

In order to solve my problem, I need to do things the right way. There are many ways to solve a problem and some ways take longer than others. I must find the best and fastest way if I am going to make it.

Simple as that.

Fifth Follower

It's been forever since my first follower and last week, I finally got my fifth follower which completes one of my blog goals. Not that it really matters or anything, but I would like to take a step back and appreciate it. I started this blog from nothing and it's still trash. It has nothing that a professional blog has and I haven't been really writing anything useful. I have not achieved anything meaningful in life which means this blog guarantees nothing to help anyone. I am barely making it out there.

I just write what's on my mind which has always been the case. It's just lately that I haven't been able to write what I think. I haven't been thinking straight because I have my head up my ass. I need to get it out and slap myself silly before it's too late.

Thanks for following :)

Nothing Matters

Nothing fucking matters. Nobody gives a fuck about you or me because nothing matters. Nothing matters because most of the shit in life don't matter. It is only YOU who can make it matter. If something matters, then put your energy into it until it doesn't matter anymore. It might take days, months, or even forever, but you gotta do it. If you don't, then it truly doesn't matter.

I am saying all this because a lot of bad shit has been happening to me, but I don't give a fuck because it doesn't matter. There are only a few things that matter TO ME and that is the stuff I should really be focused on. If I focused on the things that don't matter, then I would just be wasting my time.

Find out what matters and what doesn't. Focus on the things that do matter because that's the only way to succeed.

Lost

There are so many things that I want to be good at, but I am beginning to understand that I cannot master everything. I tried to follow my plan of being solid at my favorite activities but realize that I will lose those skills if I stop practicing. I spend every day diversifying my time and energy on different things which puts me out of focus. There are only so many hours in a day and I cannot be juggling 5 different things at once. It is not efficient and will not make me good. Most of the activities I like are also location dependent meaning I can only do them if I have access to those practice facilities. Once I move to a different location, I no longer have the facilities to continue practicing. I must find a constant for all these activities if I am to succeed. Over the weeks, it seems I am at a loss of what I really want to do.

I have a drive to be the best at something, but I can't pinpoint what exactly. It seems like my mind is guiding me to things that are very risky. For this reason, I don't want to dive too deep to realize that I am actually no good. I think the answer is to keep doing what I like and whatever I don't stop doing is the thing I really want to do. It will come to the process of natural selection in my mind. Whatever thing I do the most is the thing I really care for. The things I stop doing are the things I don't really care about. I think this is an approach I must take to move forward. It may be the only way to pick a few instead of all.

I don't want to waste anymore time and energy on things I am not serious about. I must keep on pushing forward because if I stop, it will be over. It's my only choice because anything else will lead to failure. I want to be the best. I suggest anyone in the same boat to do the same. Keep pushing!

Flawed Methodlogies

I have discovered a terrible pattern in my progression towards my goals. It has been slow and inefficient compared to others whom have progressed much further and faster. What I take a year to learn, should take a few months. Projects people finish in a week, I just seem to give up on. This is unacceptable and I want to change for the better. How are others learning so fast while I am learning so slow?

Take a look at this: Re-Organization

I am amazed something I wrote five years ago is still relevant today. I followed my guide the best I could, but only applied the concepts partially. I also fucked my mind in the process by implementing a more inefficient strategy of thinking. I seriously need a tune-up on how to think and "learn" better. The problem lies in a few different areas. They include lack of mental energy, inability to change, and the lack of focus.

The lack of energy is most likely from my lack of sleep recently. I need to realize that sleep is very important because without it, I become a zombie. The surplus of energy in my youth even after a few nights of no sleep cannot be fully replicated unless I build a system that can support that. The way to fix this is that anytime I feel tired, I must take a nap. If it gets too late, I must consider sleep as an option as opposed to study. Any study I do after the realization of needing sleep is wasted because my memory cannot retain it. The other option includes play in the form of practice. This could work because no memory is needed, but if I am too tired, then sleep is an absolute must.

The other reason for the lack of mental energy is from the lack of food. I need to make sure that I get a good supply of food when I am hungry. Without food, I am completely useless.

My inability to change is a huge detriment to my development. I am very stubborn in terms of my thinking, so I usually think my way is the best way.  My ideas consist of doing everything the hard way and that includes not asking for help. I think doing things the hard way helps me understand the fundamentals of a subject better so the harder things become easier later on. More mistakes are usually made and these mistakes are experiences I can draw upon.

I realized doing things the hard way is not always the right way to go about everything. Some technologies, like the GPS, exist to make our lives more simple. Things like the compiler and the assembler make it easy for a programmer to write code so they don't have to write bytecode. I sometimes think about writing the bytecode myself because it might improve my understanding, but in the long run, it is just tedious and inefficient. I take this overboard on everything I do because I think I need to KNOW the basics before I understand. This usually causes me to lose focus on my goal and actually moves me backwards.

I need to be able to adapt and see things in both lights. The hard way and the easy way. Sometimes one is better than the other and I need to recognize  which is better to bring out the best results.

I have been trying to follow my plan to the best of my abilities, but I have approached it the wrong way. I want to get good at multiple things, but it seems like I have been distributing my focus instead of keeping it whole. I need to do things one thing at a time in order to be good. Sometimes I do something while thinking about another. When I am doing something, I must focus on that thing only. I cannot have distractions getting in the way or else my efforts are wasted.

I sometimes fall into a state of disarray for no reasons at all. I just lose my head at times and fall into a slump.  It may be my brain telling me to take a break, but when I do, it seems like I can never snap out of it. This is a weakness.

The only thing going for me is persistence which keeps me going. Without it, I will be all over the place. I need to limit myself to one activity at a time and with persistence, once I finish a task, I can move on to another.

The only way to move forward is to adapt and survive.
